It was announced earlier this morning that the Cleveland Browns released CB Joe Haden. There was talk yesterday that the Browns were trying to trade Haden, again. Haden was reportedly asked to take a pay cut but decline. He has been with the Browns since they drafted him in the first round in 2010.
So of course the next question that comes up is, should the Titans sign Haden? I didn’t think it would be a good idea for the Titans to trade for him because the Browns were probably asking a pretty steep price. However, now that it would just cost money to bring him in it is a different conversation.
This should absolutely be a discussion the Titans are having. There is no doubt that the group they have is better than last year, but Haden would absolutely be an upgrade. And he would end up being pretty cheap with this factored in:
Joe Haden is getting $4M guaranteed from #Browns — with offsets. If he settles in at less than $4M, new team pays him minimum, CLE pays rest

What does that mean? Suddenly, Joe Haden could play for any championship-level team for a bargain while still making his $4M from #Browns

The biggest thing that scares me here is that the Colts are already one of the teams being mentioned as in on Joe Haden. They have a huge need at corner with the injury to Vontae Davis. Haden would fill that hole for now and would give them a really good CB duo when Davis comes back. I might be willing to bring him in just to keep that from happening.
