Titans practice report from August 10th

NFL: Tennessee Titans-Training Camp Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

I had the opportunity to be at practice this morning and even got to spend a little bit of time talking to MCM Mike. I had never met him in person, so that was pretty cool.

As for practice, it was another day where the offensive line looked really good. There were multiple times where Derrick Henry and David Fluellen had enormous holes to run through. We knew the offensive line was going to be a strength of the team heading into the season. It is good to see it play out that way.

So while the offensive line was winning most of the day, on the defensive side of the ball the secondary really stood out to me. There wasn’t much separation to be had out there. It is good to see them looking better in practice. Now we need to see it in a game. They will have a chance to show they are better on Saturday night.

Eric Decker did have a really nice catch with Tye Smith draped all over him during the red zone period. Speaking of Smith, he was a guy that kept popping up around the ball today. I will be interested to see how he does on Saturday.

I asked this morning on Twitter for one player that people wanted me to watch in practice today. There were a lot of suggestions, but Kevin Dodd was the most popular answer, so I focused on Dodd this morning. He did make one nice play where he almost blew up a screen pass, probably would have in a game, but he didn’t do much else. He does look healthy though, and that is the more important thing for him right now.

DeMarco Murray and Corey Davis both missed practice again today. Murray was out there in full pads without practicing for the second straight day. Neither guy will play against the Jets. Murray appears to be a lot closer to being ready.

The Titans are off tomorrow as they prepare for Saturday’s preseason opener against the Jets.
