Titans Links!
Jim Wyatt gives us a quick recap from day three of training camp. Yesterday was the first time the team practiced in full pads. Mularkey liked the intensity, but wasn’t a fan with the periodic sloppiness. Jonnu Smith stood out more to Wyatt yesterday more than the previous days, and a bunch of other stuff. Wyatt’s play of the day happened between Mariota and Darius Jennings (who?). Mariota lofted up a ball during one-on-one drills, and Jennings made the catch while sliding on his back.
Quick Hit: Jonnu Smith wants to be great.
The Titans hear all the lofty expectations, but they don’t want to live off the hype. There is SO much buzz around the team this offseason, and I honestly cannot remember what it felt like for this team to have ANY kind of buzz around it. The team hasn’t made the playoffs since 2008, and reaching the playoffs this upcoming season would be oh so awesome. Mariota says that for a lot of the players on the team: expectations mean nothing. He calls it “outside noise,” and remarks on how it’s stuff they can’t control. Walker says the team doesn’t want to live off the hype, and that they are going to have to “show up and show out.”
Quick Hit: Corey Levin is looking to prove he belongs in the NFL.
Kevin Byard is aiming to be one of the NFL’s top safeties. Byard kept him self in tip-top shape this offseason, and even took the time to study some of the best safeties in the game (players like Earl Thomas, Eric Berry, Reshad Jones and Eric Weddle). Byard was picked in the third round in last year’s draft, and his goal is to become an All-Pro and a Pro Bowl player in 2017, and wants to help the team reach the playoffs. Byard said he feels a lot more comfortable this year, and feels more confident when making calls. He also plans on making his voice heard this season.
Quick Hit: The defense set the tone on day three of training camp.
That’s all for today. Happy reading!
