A tough offseason for Sebastian Tretola ends with the Tennessee Titans cutting him a day before training camp opens. To take his place, they signed Jake Simonich. The team also officially announced the signing for Erik Walden. Johnny Ragin III was released to make room for Simonich.

It’s really no huge surprise that Tretola was cut. He was a guy that was probably on the roster bubble anyway. Those guys just cannot afford to have their name in the news for negative things as much as he did this summer. It will be interesting to see if they have to do an injury settlement with him. We were never really told how severe the injury was that he suffered from the gunshot, but the release was deemed not football injury related.

We had high hopes for Tretola this time last year. He was a sixth round pick and seemed like exactly the type of player that Jon Robinson and Mike Mularkey were looking for on the offensive line, but there was never really any noise that he was making a push to start last year. Now he is a free agent trying to recover from a gunshot wound. Life comes at you fast.
