There are few people out there that love fantasy football more than I do. It is what makes watching every game the Titans aren’t involved in worth watching, but if you are doing a fantasy football draft in June, there might be something wrong with you.
Anyway, I saw this tweet yesterday and found it interesting:
All-Overrated (ADP): 1) Todd Gurley (21.8) 2) Brandin Cooks (26.4) 3) Dalvin Cook (54.3) 4) Ameer Abdullah (60.0) 5) Derrick Henry (71.9)

Last year we saw the majority of the carries go to DeMarco Murray and with good reason. Murray was running so well there was no reason to take him off the field. He did, however, wear down a little bit as the season went along. That was my only argument for giving Derrick Henry more carries each game.
Here are a couple of reasons that I won’t be taking Henry early in my fantasy drafts (and therefore probably not getting him on any of my teams):
- There is still going to be a timeshare that he is going to be on lesser end of. Even if Henry gets more carries this year, he isn’t getting more than 35-40% of the total. That’s not enough to help you win your week in fantasy football.
- This offense is going to be more pass heavy this year. Look at their first 4 picks in the 2017 draft. 3 of those 4 picks were spent on pass catchers. You don’t do that and not put the ball in the air more often.
Where would you be comfortable drafting Henry?
