The sportsbook Bet Online has released their NFL Futures page, which includes title odds for the divisions, conferences and the Super Bowl. They seem to be one of the few that isn’t jumping on the Titans hype train this offseason.
They list Tennessee with 25-1 odds to win the AFC Championship to get to the Super Bowl. That part sounds about right, but there are eight teams with better odds in front of them. The Ravens, Broncos, Texans, Colts, Chiefs, Patriots, Raiders and Steelers are all ahead of the Titans, who are tied with the Chargers for 9th.
You can make your argument for each team, but to me after Oakland, New England and Pittsburgh, it’s anyone’s game. Throw a blanket over the rest and give me the team with the best quarterback left — which is probably Marcus Mariota.
Interestingly enough, the sportsbook has the Titans tied as favorites to win the AFC South with the Colts at 2-1 odds. The Texans are next and pretty close at +220, but both teams are listed ahead of Tennessee for the AFC crown.
Are the Titans ready to win the AFC? No. But are there eight better teams in the AFC? I’d also say no. I think the Titans have some defensive issues to sort out before they can truly contend, but I think we can all agree that they are at least on pace to be one of the better teams in the AFC over the next decade.
