#Titans say QB Matt Cassel injured his throwing thumb and is out for the rest of offseason. Back by camp.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) May 31, 2017
Matt Cassel will miss the rest of Titans OTAs after he injured his thumb on his throwing hand. As the tweet above says from Ian Rapoport, Cassel is expected to be ready in time for training camp. That is good.
This obviously isn’t a big deal. The Titans hopefully won’t need Cassel to play any meaningful snaps this season, because if he does, that obviously means that something has happened to Marcus Mariota. My heart can’t take that happening again this season.
This will give Alex Tanney and Tyler Ferguson a little bit more run between now and camp. Those guys won’t be on the roster when camp breaks, but it can’t hurt for them to get some extra work in front of this coaching staff. Hopefully they will make the most of the opportunity.
You hate to see injuries at any time, but if this is the worst thing that happens to the Titans in OTAs we will call it a success.
