The Titans rookies were on the field for the first time last weekend. There is a lot to be excited about in this class. One of the more intriguing rookies is Florida International tight end Jonnu Smith. He is a guy that comes in with comparisons to Delanie Walker, who you might be familiar with.
Jim Wyatt had a story on Smith recently on Titans Online. I love this quote from Smith in that story:
“I am extremely capable. If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be here,’’ said Smith, drafted in the third round of the NFL Draft. “But I know I have to be a sponge right now, and learn the playbook and listen to others. You have one mouth and two ears, and that tells you a lot. My ears will be wide open.”
Smith has all of the ability to be a Pro Bowl tight end with this team, but it starts with learning the plays and the intricacies of playing in the NFL. He gets it. I expect big things out of this guy in the next couple of years.
