I had a feeling that everyone was going to be hopping aboard the Titans hype train this offseason. The latest is ESPN’s numbers and fantasy guru Mike Clay, who puts together some really nice projection models. Clay like the Titans to come out on top of the AFC South, narrowing topping Indianapolis, Jacksonville and Houston. The four teams are actually really close, if you take a look below.

The most interesting thing I found here was that the Titans are projected to be favored in 11 of 16 games. That’s a staggering turn-around from the Ken Whisenhunt era.
Clay projects Tennessee to pick 27th in the 2018 NFL Draft. That means that he sees just five teams — New England, Atlanta, Seattle, Pittsburgh and Arizona (weird) to finish with better overall records than the Titans.
Are the Titans the 6th best team in the NFL right now? I’d say no. But the arrow is on the move. With hype comes expectations — we’ll see if the Titans can meet those expectations in just a few short months.
