Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting that Jason McCourty is expected to sign with the Cleveland Browns:
Source: #Browns are expected to sign veteran CB Jason McCourty after he visited CLE Monday & today, barring a late snag. Big-time addition
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) May 16, 2017
Everyone expected McCourty to sign with the Patriots when he was released by the Titans. I have no idea if there was any interest there from either side, but that apparently not what is going to happen.
McCourty still has the ability to be a solid role player. The Titans just couldn’t pay him the $8 million he was scheduled to make here based on his current talent level.
It will be interesting to see what his contract with the Browns looks like. It is probably a 1 or 2 year deal with very little guaranteed money.
McCourty was a great team first guy who was a leader on and off the field. I hope he does really well in Cleveland, who might just be better than most people think in 2017.
It’s likely 2-year deal per Adam Caplan:
As @RapSheet said, #Browns are expected to sign CB Jason McCourty. Source said likely 2-year deal.
