NFL Power Rankings: Where do the Titans rank after the Draft?

It’s never too soon for power rankings.

SBNation has released their offseason power rankings following the NFL Draft that finished up two weeks ago. This may be a preview of the coming months for Titans fans.

They have the Titans at 11th overall — a big difference from the end of the season where the Titans checked in at 21.

I’m betting you see quite a bit more of this. Just yesterday, Todd McShay said that the Titans were one of the five most improved teams this offseason. The driving force behind all of this is Marcus Mariota, who is believed to be on track and ready to roll for the 2017 season.

The thought of the Titans playing with even an average secondary is exciting. That group let the entire team down time after time last year. With stability in the back-half now, Tennessee should at the very least be somewhat competent now against the pass.

Throw that into the mix of Corey Davis, Taywan Taylor and Jonnu Smith on offense and you’ve got big time improvements at key areas of weakness. Jon Robinson and Mike Mularkey are going all in on Marcus Mariota, surrounding him with offensive talent as they should. The rest of the sports media — even the national media — is taking notice.

There really is no reason why the Titans can’t take that next step either, assuming Mariota does come back healthy. Expect the Titans to be the trendy playoff and divisional pick from all the talking heads in the coming months.
