2017 NFL Draft: John Ross to Visit the Titans

Ross is a legitimate option for the Titans.

In a report from NFL.com, we have learned John Ross is slated to visit with the Tennessee Titans. This shouldn’t come as a surprise — being that Jon Robinson has yet to address the receiver position yet this offseason. I’d expect visits from Corey Davis and Mike Williams as well.

Ross brings something unique, however. We all know he broke the record for the fastest 40 time ever recorded at the NFL Combine, but that speed is real. His 2016 Washington tape is special. I’d argue that his quarterback (Jake Browning) left hundreds of yards on the table. He ripped up the Pac-12 and has thrown himself into the mid-1st round conversation.

Ross spoke about potentially playing with his former west coast peer Marcus Mariota with NFL.com’s Chase Goodbread.

"He's one of my favorite quarterbacks ever. When (Washington) played Oregon, he was doing things I'd never seen before in person. I would love to catch balls from Marcus," Ross said. "We're both young, we'd be able to grow together."

I wrote about Ross a couple of months back and came to the conclusion that he wouldn’t really fit what the Titans are looking for. However, I could see them opting for Ross if the draft board falls a certain way. You could do a lot worse than adding his explosion on the outside.

I mean, just think about Marcus Mariota feeding DeMarco Murray three straight times then hitting Ross deep off of play action. The Titans love to work off play action and Ross would likely force a safety to stay out of the box. He’s a chess piece and a guy that you’ll have to account for as a defensive coordinator.

I think he’s in play for pick 18 — maybe even sooner.
