So the big news around Titans-land (if that’s a thing) for the last 24 hours has been the fact that Derrick Henry didn’t show up for the first day of the offseason program. These workouts are voluntary, but it certainly isn’t a good look for the 2nd-year running back not to be there with his teammates.
Well Paul Kuharsky wrote about Henry’s absence yesterday in a very fair and measured way, but Henry apparently didn’t like it:
Not positive, but I think this is a new development. If he shares anything notable, let me know. pic.twitter.com/8MGAafxG0w

Everyone here knows that I love Henry, but it would probably be a good idea for him to spend less time blocking people on Twitter and more time getting to Nashville to be at these workouts with his teammates. It’s not the end of the world that he isn’t here, but it definitely would be a good idea for him to be here as DeMarco Murray said yesterday (from PK’s linked article above):
“I haven’t spoken with him,” Titans veteran running back DeMarco Murray said. “I don’t know, that’s something I guess those guys have to deal with, but this is obviously a pivotal part for a young guy to get better in (these) offseason workouts with probably one of the best strength coaches in the nation.
My guess is that Henry gets here pretty quickly after all the talk....
[UPDATE]- Henry is taking classes at Alabama to finish his degree. That’s a good reason not to be here, but it does seem like he could have let Mularkey know....
Derrick is taking classes this semester at Alabama. Trust me, if you see him, you can tell he has not skipped any workouts. https://t.co/kZbOMtaHfJ
