Cowboys to release Tony Romo: Will he end up in the AFC South?

The Texans look to be a prime landing spot for Tony Romo.

Adam Schefter is reporting that the Cowboys will release Tony Romo on Thursday when the new league year opens. That is not a surprising development. You can’t pay a guy $14 million to sit on the bench. Plus you don’t want Dak Prescott looking over his shoulder every time he makes a mistake.

The Houston Texans figure to be in the mix for Romo’s service. Of course the issue they have is that they gave Brock WOATweiler a 4 year $72 million dollar contract before last season. They wouldn’t have a problem moving on from him because he is terrible, but there is the issue of having that much money tied up in 2 quarterbacks.

That Texans defense is legit. They also have a lot of skill guys on offense. They really are just a quarterback away from being a really good team. It makes sense for them to go all in on Romo even despite his injury history, and you better believe that Bill O’Brien will be pushing for this because he is coaching for his job in 2017.

Romo doesn’t scare me that much because he can’t stay on the field, but I would still prefer that he didn’t end up with the Texans.
