2017 NFL Mock Draft: Lance Zierlein mixes things up for the Titans

This is.. different.

Buckle up. Lance Zierlein broke the mold with this one. Tired of mocks with Corey Davis and Marshon Lattimore? This mock is for you.

Pick #5: Hassan Reddick, LB, Temple

This is the first time that I’ve seen Reddick in the top five. I’m not even sure I’ve seen him in the top ten. Reddick was thought of as a day two prospect before the Senior Bowl, but he launched himself into the first round after a strong week in Mobile. He’s a versatile guy that can play some edge and inside linebacker.

I think he fits what the Titans want and need, but is five too rich? Probably so. But as I’ve noted before — the 5th pick is wide open and there really isn’t an obvious option. Would Reddick go before Reuben Foster? I think it’s possible. Foster lands at 13 in this mock.

Pick 5 is too rich to me with other needs on the table. I’m not sure where Reddick would play off the bat with Avery Williamson and Wesley Woodyard in the fold. He’d be an athletic upgrade for sure, but he’s a bit of a projection on the inside.

Pick #18: Forrest Lamp, OG, Western Kentucky

Clearly Zierlein feels like Josh Kline isn’t the answer at guard. I don’t see any way the Titans come out of the 1st round with an offensive lineman. There are just too many other holes to fill on this roster. I think I’ve personally learned my lesson that guards can be found almost anywhere (see Kline, Spain for examples) after the Chance Warmack debacle.

Can you imagine the outrage if the Titans go to the podium with another offensive line selection, while totally ignoring corner and receiver? I’ll pass on this draft haul. The Titans can do better positionally and also get better value on top of that, in my opinion.
