AFC playoff picture simple for the Titans; win week 17 and they are in

The Titans are spinning right now. We have been saying for a month now that 9 wins gets them in the playoffs. They have now had 3 chances at getting their 9th win and have come up short on all 3 occasions.

According to the New York Times playoff machine, the Titans will be in the playoffs if they can win next week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now I don’t have a lot of confidence in their ability to do that at this point, but hey, at least they head into week 17 with a chance to make the playoffs.

They an also make the playoffs if they lose, the Chargers lose to the Raiders and the Bills lose to the Dolphins. Look, making the playoffs would be a big accomplishment for this team, so even if they sneak in at 8-8 that would be something, I guess.

Some people are cheering against this team getting in because they think that missing the playoffs will get the coaching staff fired. That seems dumb to me. Jon Robinson and company are smart enough to evaluate how this team has played on the field, regardless of if they are able to back into the playoffs or not.
