Titans-Colts final score: Tennessee wins another ugly one 20-16

Let’s start off with the good news: The Titans got their first ever win at Lucas Oil Stadium today. The win keeps them in sole possession of the first wild card spot for now and could put them back in the AFC South lead if the Cardinals beat the Jaguars. This is the first time the Titans have swept the Colts since all the way back in 2002. The Titans were able to melt the clock away late in the game behind the legs of Derrick Henry. That about covers the good news.

The bad news is that for the majority of the game the running game was terrible, the offensive line was terrible and Marcus Mariota was terrible. I think all of those things go together. Until the Titans find a way to get all of those things working they will be able to beat bad teams, but they won’t actually be a contender.

I have been the one around here saying this team is going to be an actual contender as soon as they put a game together. I still believe that to be the case, but I no longer believe it is going to happen this year. They will make the playoffs, but it will be an early exit. That is obviously a lot better than not making the playoffs, but it isn’t where we all hoped they would be this season.
