After a week of speculation, Marcus Mariota won’t play on Sunday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Titans QB Marcus Mariota, considered game-time decision due to hamstring, not expected to play vs. Dolphins, per source. Matt Cassel starts.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 8, 2017
Mike Mularkey and the staff allowed Mariota to practice in limited fashion this week, but are playing it safe this weekend in Miami.
Matt Cassel will get the start for the Titans, meaning they will be leaning heavily on Derrick Henry and DeMarco Murray to get things done on the ground.
Mariota left the game last week against Houston after suffering a hamstring injury. Cassel came on in relief, but threw two picks. The team signed Brandon Weeden for this very reason — simple insurance. He’ll be ready to go tomorrow, but likely cut whenever Mariota is back to full strength.
