So Jason McCourty has been really good in Cleveland

Maybe we should have kept him around....

NFL: New York Jets at Cleveland Browns Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Jason McCourty is having a great year for the Cleveland Browns. In fact, if you could inject Titans GM Jon Robinson with truth serum, he would tell you that he didn’t think McCourty had anything left in the tank, and that if he knew that he did there is no way the Titans would have let him go this offseason.

Just how good has Jason McCourty been? As we discussed on the podcast (listen here), he has been excellent this year. In fact, he shadowed both A.J. Green and DeAndre Hopkins. Green caught 2 passes for 31 yards on 3 targets. Hopkins caught 2 balls for 19 yards and a touchdown on 3 targets. We saw McCourty cover Hopkins for years here and he put better numbers than that on the first Texans possession.

So what has the difference been in McCourty’s game? Honestly I haven’t watched the Browns at all so it is hard to say. I did ask Chris Pokorny of Dawgs by Nature about him as part of this week’s 5 questions. I am interested to see his answer.

McCourty was always a great guy in the locker room. I am happy to see him having success with the Browns...just maybe not as much this week.
