Are the Titans the best or worst team in the AFC South?

The AFC South is an interesting division. Terry and I spent last night’s podcast talking about the other 3 teams in the division and what they have done through the first 5 weeks of the season. You can listen to that here:

This week we are looking at the best and worst team in the divison. The Titans are the best team in the division when Marcus Mariota is under center. Mariota is the best quarterback in the division (go ahead and @ me Andrew Luck truthers). He makes this offense dynamic...and we haven’t even seen him with a full strength Corey Davis yet.

Don’t believe me? Just look at what the Titans were able to do in Jacksonville against the supposed second coming of the ‘85 Bears. They went down there and didn’t turn the ball over. That forced the Jaguars to actually put together some drives to score points. They are unable to do that because Blake Bortles is their quarterback. That alone keeps them from being in the conversation as the best team in anything other than the state of Florida.

Now that I have talked about how good the Titans are, they are the worst team in the division with Matt Cassel under center. We have talked about his limitations ad nauseam this week. He can’t make about 75% of the throws an NFL quarterback should be able to make. If the offensive line isn’t elite, which it hasn’t been this year, this team won’t win very many games (if any) with Cassel at quarterback.

I think all things being equal, the Colts are the worst team in the division. Even with Luck back there, they still have a really bad offensive line and a defense that can’t stop anyone. I think they will get better in a hurry with Chris Ballard as GM, but right now there are holes all over that team.
