Mike Mularkey said at his Monday press conference that the Titans would have gone for 2 yesterday if the scored on the final drive of the game. He said he told the team that before the last drive started. I love the call, and Raiders’ coach Jack Del Rio did the same thing in week 1 against the Saints.
It would have been interesting to hear the conversation today if it happened. People would have loved it if it worked and hated it if failed, but I think it is the right call 100% of the time.
The extra point is no longer a sure thing. It would really suck if they scored on the drive and then lost anyway because of a missed extra point (not that I would be that worried about that because Ryan Succop is a good kicker).
You also have so many weapons for a 2 point play on the Titans offense. Mariota is a deadly threat there. They also have DeMarco Murray who is the best running back in football right now and Andre Johnson who wins in the red zone.
So bookmark this post if it comes up again at any point in the season. I am in favor of the move even if it doesn’t work out.
