Report: Dexter McCluster to sign with Chargers

Ken Whisenhunt might finally use McCluster like Danny Woodhead!

NFL: Preseason-San Diego Chargers at Tennessee Titans Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

The Chargers lost Danny Woodhead for the year on Sunday when he tore his ACL against the Jaguars. To replace Woodhead, the Chargers plan to sign Dexter McCluster according to Adam Schefter of ESPN:

It made me chuckle when I saw this because we all speculated the Titans would use McCluster like the Chargers used Woodhead. That obviously didn’t ever happen, and Jon Robinson wasted no time moving on from McCluster when he took over as GM.

Now Ken Whisenhunt, who is the offensive coordinator in San Diego, brings McCluster in to actually replace Woodhead. It will be interesting to see if McCluster gets the same usage.

The Chargers also have Mevlin Gordon who is having a really nice year, but they used Woodhead to run between the tackles as well as in the passing game. That’s not McCluster’s strength. Ken Whisenhunt has to know that at this point, right??
