Titans Links!
Paul K says the Titans need to have more meaningful sacks earlier in games. Paul looked at the sack totals from the first half and second half of games played last season, and noticed something odd. They recorded 13 sacks (4.8% of pass attempts faced) in the first half, and 26 sacks (11.3% of pass attempts faced) in the second half of games, and this was despite the fact that they saw 40 more dropbacks in the first half of games. No one knows why this happened, but the Titans do have the potential to turn this around.
Quick Hit: The Titans think Blackson is following in DaQuan Jones' course.
Paul K now lists out seven things we need to know after the first week of Titans training camp. First we need to know that McBride makes a lot of plays. Second that the Titans have deep depth for the Safeties, and they need to get it sorted out. Third that undrafted Fullback Sam Bergen has looked good. Fourth you need to set aside McCluster, and Fowler. Fifth is to move Nate Palmer (inside/outside linebacker) to the 53 man roster. Sixth is that the Titans scrimmage will make the fifth of the Titans' twelve padded practices. Finally he asks where the Titans need to add more depth.
Quick Hit: Jim Wyatt's observations from day six of Training Camp.
Jack Conklin is settling in with the Titans. He helped the offensive line win a WWE style championship belt last week, he's been stepping up and not showing signs of being overwhelmed, and Mularkey has even said you wouldn't think he was a rookie. Russ Grimm reminds us that he (Conklin) certainly is a rookie, but he has been making great strides and growing as a player. Conklin is going to keep working, and he plans on being one of the best guys at his position in the country.
Quick Hit: Perrish Cox is ready to replace bad memories with good ones.
Jim Wyatt gives us seven topics with Offensive Coordinator Terry Robiskie. He talks about Marcus Mariota, DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry, the offensive line, who has stood out on the offensive line (Lewan), on receiver Andre Johnson, on if the Titans will need to pick between Douglas or Johnson, and finally his thought on rookie receiver Tajae Sharpe.
Scrimmage Quick Hits!
Mike Smith (DE) sang the National Anthem at the scrimmage.
Jason Wolf gives us 5 observations from the first half of the scrimmage.
That's all for today. Happy reading!
