Will Dexter McCluster make the Titans roster?

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier today I posted my first 53-man roster projection. People are outraged* on Twitter that I didn't include Dexter McCluster. I don't really understand why.

I just don't see how McCluster fits in the offense. He isn't really that good at running the football, and there won't be that big of a need for a pass catching back in the "Exotic Smashmouth" scheme that Mike Mularkey wants to feature.

Look at McCluster's usage after Mularkey took over last year. He had 8 carries (for 19 yards(!))in the first game Mularkey coached, the overtime win over the Saints. He didn't have more than 4 carries in any other game. That doesn't seem like a guy the coach is dying to keep around.

McCluster seemed like the perfect guy to fill the passing back role in Ken Whisenhunt's offense. Well The Whiz is gone and so is his terrible offense.

I just don't see McCluster's role in this new scheme, but hey, I could be wrong.

*OK- outrage is a little strong, but there is a lot of chatter on Twitter and the site about McCluster being a lock.
