Titans Links!
The Titans beat the Raiders on Saturday, and dang did Mariota and the offense look good while doing it. Robiskie called a good mix of plays, Mariota spread it around the field, and Murray and Henry both ran wicked well against a defense that kept the team to 17 points last season. Mariota looked daggum comfortable, and looked to be having some fun (to me). In his third preseason game he threw for 170 yards, went for 9/16, and posted a QBR of 93.2. This brings his preseason totals to 319 yards, 23/31 passes completed, and a QBR of 104.1. Dang, son.
Quick Hit: Spence and Bass combined for a big play.
The Titans have started making their cuts! This first round of cuts contains some familiar names: Deiontrez Mount, Ropati Pitoitua, Blidi Wreh-Wilson, and Andy Gallik. Mount seems to be the most surprising of the first round of cuts. He seemed pretty solid in preseason, but I think it comes down to a numbers game for him, and the level of depth for the Outside Linebacker position.
Quick Hit: Titans took another positive step forward in their win over Oakland.
Jim Wyatt drops six topics from Mularkey's press conference. He notes that there have been some roster moves (which means cuts), he states that Mularkey expects the starters to play a series (but we may not see Mariota), he reviewed Wallace and Dodd's playtime (they did pretty good), he stated Walker is fine and will practice tomorrow, the return game was discussed, and Quinton Spain was named the starter at Left Guard.
Quick Hit: John Glennon gives us notes from Mularkey's press conference.
Glennon gives three thumbs up, and then three thumbs down from the Oakland game. Thumbs up first! The first team offense looking impressive, Andre Johnson made some noise, and Derrick Henry looked dang impressive. Ok now for the bad. The first team defensive looked rough (and water is wet), the passing defense was torched again, and kick returns need some help.
Quick Hit: The run game will help Mariota.
That's all for today. Happy reading!
