The Titans got off to a fast start in the preseason opener against the Chargers. There were very few things to be critical about from that game. That always makes for an easy second week for the fans and around St. Thomas Sports Park. Let's check in and see how the rookie performed in their first game action:
Jack Conklin
The offensive line as a whole showed very well in the run game, but Conklin struggled in the passing game according to Pro Football Focus (via John Glennon). The rookie right tackle allowed a QB hit and 3 hurries on 12 pass blocking snaps.
Kevin Dodd
Did not play because he is still on the PUP list. Hopefully he will be activated this week.
Austin Johnson
The rookie defensive tackle played 26 snaps and was credited with 1 solo tackle.
Derrick Henry
Is it too early to call him the second coming of Eddie George?? Maybe? OK, but he did look really good on his 10 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown. Lambert has a full breakdown of Henry's night here.
Kevin Byard
A lot of people called Byard a reach on draft night. He didn't look like it on Saturday night when he picked off Zach Mettenberger. Can he push Rashad Johnson to be the starting free safety?
Tajae Sharpe
Sharpe continued to impress with a 31-yard reception on the first drive. He was later evaluated for a concussion but did not have one.
LeShaun Sims
The rookie corner played 34 snaps and was credited with one tackle. He will get a lot of time this preseason to prove he belongs.
Sebastian Tretola
Tretola also got a lot of work on Saturday night as well. There is talk of him getting some run with the first unit at some point this preseason.
Aaron Wallace
Wallace did not play Saturday night because of a high ankle sprain. He has been out since the beginning of the month.
Kalan Reed
Played 20 snaps and had one tackle.
