Byron Bell lost for the season on first day of Titans OTAs

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

The Titans took the field for their first OTA today and have already sustained a major injury. Byron Bell dislocated his ankle and will miss the season according to Jonathan Hutton. Bell was probably the favorite to be the Titans starting left guard.

This injury is a huge opportunity for one of the younger players on the roster. It figures to be a 3-way battle between Quinton Spain, Jeremiah Poutasi and rookie Sebastian Tretola. Guys like Brian Schwenke and Andy Gallik will also see some time over there between now and the beginning of the season.

This obviously isn't great news for the Titans considering the lack of depth they have had on the offensive line the last couple of years, but this also isn't exactly a devastating blow to the Titans chances. Of the guys mentioned before, Tretola is the only one that was selected by Jon Robinson/Mike Mularkey. That doesn't mean he will win the job, but don't be surprised if he does.
