The New England Patriots cut 2014 first round draft pick Dominique Easley today. The move came as quite a surprise to Rich Hill of Pats Pulpit. Easley was widely regarded as a top prospect in that draft but fell to the Patriots at the 29th pick because he was coming off a torn ACL.
Tom Gower wondered on Twitter earlier if the Titans, who have the 1st waiver position, would put in a claim for Easley. Jon Robinson has New England connections, as Gower mentioned, although he wasn't there in 2014 when the Pats drafted Easley.
It would make sense for the Titans to put in a claim to kick the tires on Easley. He has a ton of upside and wouldn't cost the Titans any money. His NFL career has been derailed by injuries. Bring him in to camp and let him compete for a spot. You might end up with a really good player, but even if you don't, it doesn't cost anything other than a waiver claim.
