Tennessee Titans Free Agency Day 1 Recap; Day 2 Open Thread

The Titans are off to a pretty good start. Yesterday they officially announced the trade for DeMarco Murray. I am still amazed that Jon Robinson was able to get him from the Eagles by only giving up 13 spots in the 4th round. That is going to go down as a major turning point for this franchise.

It was reported before free agency began that the Titans had agreed to terms with Ben Jones. That deal has still not officially been announced by the team. They asked Jim Wyatt about it yesterday on 3HL, and he said that in his new role working for the team he cannot comment on things like that until they are announced by the team. It made me sad for Jim and for us.

Late last night Robinson pulled off another nice deal by signing Rishard Matthews. It was rumored earlier in the day that Matthews was virtually a lock to go to the Patriots. Matthews is a solid veteran receiver that will bring some consistency to the team at a position where they have none right now.

The other move they made was signing Matt Cassel. Robinson knows Cassel from their time together in New England. Zach Mettenberger is officially on notice.

That is a nice start. The Titans still have pretty big holes at right tackle, free safety and nose tackle. There are still some good options out there. Hopefully we will see a couple more deals get done today.
