Matt Forte posted this morning on Instagram that the Bears will not be re-signing him in free agency:
Despite my wishes, my days as a member of the Chicago Bears have sadly come to an end. I was informed earlier this week from the GM that they will not be attempting to re-sign me in free agency. I will remain forever grateful for my time spent in Chicago and being able to play for an organization with such a rich history. My only regret is not being able to win a Lombardi trophy for the best fans in all of sports. I'm excited about the next chapter of my NFL career. But, Chicago will always be home. God Bless and Bear Down!
Forte will turn 31 during the 2016 season, but he showed last year that he still has some explosive ability when healthy. He probably isn't the type of back that Mike Mularkey is looking for, Mularkey wants more of a workhorse back, but he would be an immediate upgrade to this Titans offense.
I wouldn't give Forte a long-term deal. Running backs tend to fade quickly after the age of 30, but if he were willing to come here on a short-term, incentive-laden deal, that would be a huge get. Forte is like Dexter McCluster except a whole lot better.
