Titans beat Dolphins 30-17: Some cool stats

The Titans put together a pretty strong effort all around in today’s win.

That was “exotic smashmouth” football. The Titans dominated in the trenches on both sides of the ball today. They ran the ball 41 times for 235 yards. Marcus Mariota threw the ball 29 times, completing 20 of them, for 3 touchdowns. The defense recorded 6 sacks, 2 interceptions and the Dolphins averaged just 3 yards per carry.

Brian Orakpo had 2 sacks. He is on pace to record 19 sacks this season. That is one signing that Ruston Webster actually got right.

DeMarco Murray ran for 121 yards on 27 carries. He is on pace for 1,475 yards this season. That was a great deal that Jon Robinson made this offseason.

Marcus Mariota ran for 60 yards on 7 carries. A couple of those were designed runs, but he did a much better job of recognizing when it was time to pull it down and run today. That is a really good sign going forward.
