John McClain of the Houston Chronicle is reporting that Andre Johnson “could” retire today:

The timing here is really odd. Johnson hasn’t been that involved in the offense, but he has a role on this team. The Titans have zero depth at wide receiver, and they definitely don’t have anyone that has a presence in the red zone. AJ still brings that at this point in his career.
He has 9 catches for 23 yards and 2 touchdown this season.
I really don’t understand guys walking away in the middle of the season. That feels like quitting on the team to me. Look at Harry Douglas. Mike Mularkey talked him up all offseason long, and he has been inactive since Kendall Wright came back. He had to have been promised more a role than Johnson ever was. You don’t hear anything about him wanting to leave.
Of course it is Andre’s life, and he can do whatever he wants, but this doesn’t sit very well with me.
