Fantasy football is a funny game, and by funny I mean a game that will make you lose your freaking mind from time to time. It made absolutely no sense for anyone to have Jay Ajayi in their starting lineup yesterday (especially with the news that Arian Foster was returning) with the exception of extremely deep leagues, but of course in one of my leagues, someone did and he got them 38.7 points. That’s crazy (and actually that whole game was crazy).
So what should you do about Jay Ajayi going forward? You should add him. Heading into the season most people thought Ajayi would be the guy in Miami. It hadn’t worked out that way through the first 5 weeks of the season, but in a week where Foster was active Ajayi got 25 carries to Foster’s 3. You can’t count on Foster to stay healthy, and it looks like Ajayi has taken over as the lead back anyway.
Running back is a tough position to fill in fantasy football. There are so many teams that use a committee and so many injuries. If you have a guy like Ajayi who looks to be taking over a lead role, there is no reason not to add him. He is available in 58% of ESPN leagues and 70% of Yahoo! leagues.
