Titans-Browns snap count notes: Kevin Byard plays more snaps than Rashad Johnson

Changing of the guard at free safety?

NFL: Cleveland Browns at Tennessee Titans Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

You know who is a genius? Jon Robinson, that’s who. Rashad Johnson is still the Titans “starter” at free safety, but rookie Kevin Byard out-snapped Johnson 43-34 yesterday. Now unless Johnson missed some plays with an injury that I haven’t heard about, that says to me that they are working Byard into a regular role. Remember when people were complaining because the Titans didn’t draft guys that were going to contribute this year?

DeMarco Murray was in on 95% of the snaps. Now I am not going to be one of those people that calls in on the radio and says they need to use Derrick Henry more, because Murray is their best player on offense right now, but my worry with DeMarco playing so much is that he will wear down at the end of the year. It might now hurt to give Henry a few more snaps throughout the course of the game to keep Murray fresh. Just food for thought....

Kendall Wright had to have the best day per snap. He had 8 catches for 133 yards and a touchdown on 22 snaps. That’s not a bad day there. The other wide receiver snaps went like this:

Tajae Sharpe- 47

Andre Johnson- 34

Rishard Matthews- 25

It is interesting to me that Johnson is playing more snaps than Matthews.
