Fantasy football waiver wire week 6: Eddie Lacy is injured; should you add James Starks?

Eddie Lacy was hurt on Sunday night. Does that open an opportunity for Starks?

NFL: New York Giants at Green Bay Packers Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Eddie Lacy suffered an ankle injury Sunday night against the New York Giants and was unable to finish the game. Lacy was running all over the Giants with 81 yards on 11 carries. The success did not translate to Starks, however, who carried the ball 9 times for 16 yards after Lacy left the game.

On the season, Starks has 24 carries for 42 yards. If you are bad at math let me help you, that is a 1.8 yards per carry average. That is not exactly getting it done.

All of that to say, I am not sure I would run to the waiver wire to claim Starks in a standard league unless you are desperate for a guy this week, but he might not even get the start this week as Lacy and Packers’ coach Mike McCarthy both said yesterday that Lacy’s ankle injury isn’t serious.

Now Starks is worth a speculative add in a PPR league. He had 3 catches for 19 yards in the game Sunday night and has always been involved in the Packers 2-minute drill.
