Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Titans will interview Giants VP of Player Evaluation Marc Ross. Ross has been with the Giants in that role for 3 seasons. He has been with the Giants since 2007.
Ed Valentine of Big Blue View had this to say about Ross a couple of days ago:
Ross is a curious case. He has been interviewed or considered a candidate for as many as eight general manager jobs since 2012. As far as I can tell he has interviewed for at least a half-dozen of those jobs. He has rarely gotten a second interview and obviously hasn't gotten any of those jobs. Currently, when you see NFL insiders make lists of potential GM candidates, Ross's name doesn't even come up. That has to tell you that league decision-makers have reached a conclusion about Ross, and it isn't a favorable one.
So take that for what it's worth. Maybe Ross doesn't interview well, or maybe there were guys that were just better suited for the jobs. Who knows?
There are names being leaked in the GM search but not the head coaching search. That leads me to believe that the plan is to hire the GM first. That is the smart way to go about this.
