What we learned from Titans president Steve Underwood's press conference

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

We learned this morning that Steve Underwood will become the permanent president and CEO of the Titans.  He had been serving in that role in an interim capacity for close to a year.  We also learned this morning that Ruston Webster is out as the general manager of the team and that the team will also begin the search for a head coach.

Underwood held a press conference this afternoon.  Here are some of the things that were learned from that:

-Requests for interviews for both GM and head coach have already been sent out.  Underwood said he anticipated getting the first interviews scheduled within the next 24 hours

-Underwood said they don't have a preference on hiring a head coach or GM first

-Floyd Reese is not a candidate

-They will not be hiring someone who is both the coach and the GM

-Amy Adams Strunk, Kenneth Adams, Vin Marino and Underwood will all be apart of the interview process

-Going to interview a variety of head coaching candidates, but Mike Mularkey hasn't been eliminated

-The Titans have 14 GM candidates that they consider finalists for GM

-Provided a list of 155 candidates for head coach when Ken Whisenhunt was fired to the owners

-Strunk asked Underwood this morning to stay on a permanent basis

-Underwood reiterated that the team is not for sale

-Strunk was at every game the Titans played this year...including the preseason
