Blaine Bishop broke the news earlier today that the Titans would be bringing Steve Jackson and Deshea Townsend on as defensive backs coaches. Jackson will coach the safeties and Townsend, who played at the University of Alabama, will coach the corners.
Jackson played for the Oilers/Titans from 1991-1999. He was on the Titans team that went to the Super Bowl in 1999 and played quite a bit in that game after Marcus Robertson and Bishop were hurt. He coached safeties for the Washington Redskins from 2004-2011.
Townsend spent the majority of his playing career with the Steelers. He actually coached with Ray Horton, who recently left for the Browns, in Arizona in 2011-2012. He spent the last couple of years coaching DBs at Mississippi State.
Alex Marves also reported that Nick Eason will be the defensive line coach. Eason has been with the Titans for the last couple of years as the assistant defensive line coach.
