Has Jon Robinson found his Jon Robinson?

A look at Robinson's potential right hand man.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Falcons have parted ways with Lionel Vital, their Director of Player Personnel. Titans fans should be very interested as he has connections to new GM Jon Robinson according to Paul Kuharsky. The exact quote from Paul Kuharsky is "Vital has a very strong tie to Titans GM Jon Robinson."

I wish I knew the attribution, but there was a quote saying that Tampa Bay Buccaneers GM Jason Licht's first piece of advice to Jon Robinson was to "find your own Jon Robinson." The meaning of that is that he needs to find someone to delegate to that is as hard working and intelligent as Robinson himself.

Well, Vital may just be the guy for that. The Falcons official website's relevant information on Vital says,

"He is a 24-year veteran in scouting and player personnel, and the Falcons will continue to lean on his experience in 2015. Vital spent the 2012 season as the associate director of player personnel after serving as the club’s assistant director of player personnel from 2007-11. Vital will continue to work closely with General Manager Thomas Dimitroff on most college scouting matters as he is an integral part of the personnel decision making team. His responsibilities also entail evaluating the top 150 college players in a national scouting capacity. He will also grade the top unrestricted NFL free agents at all positions and work on comparatives, as well as special projects with Dimitroff...

Vital served as the Assistant Director of College Scouting with the New England Patriots from 2001-04 after maintaining duties as a National College Scout in 2000. It was during his tenure with New England that he worked directly with Vice President of Player Personnel Scott Pioli and Falcons General Manager Thomas Dimitroff."

So essentially here is the abridged version:

He is a New England Patriots guy who has been in charge of grading the top 150 players in the draft and scouting NFL free agents.

Here are some of the notable players drafted on his watch:

-Desmond Trufant CB

-Paul Worrilow LB

-Joplu Bartu LB

-Jake Matthews OT

-Devonta Freeman RB

-Vic Beasley EDGE

-Justin Hardy WR

Other players acquired

-Tony Gonzalez TE

-Devin Hester KR

-Jonathan Babinueax DT

-Leonard Hankerson WR

-Matt Bryant K

That isn't a star studded list, but there are a lot of value picks and solid signings there coupled with some great players like Gonzalez, Freeman and Trufant.

I think if Robinson is interested it would be very fun to see them together and have them reshape this front office into a more Patriots-like front office. But without the cheating. Or you know, if it helps them win I won't judge.
