"Let the children lose it,
Let the children use it,
Let all the children boogie"
It finally happened! The Titans selected, and hired, their new GM! Oh happy day!
The new GM is Jon Robinson, and I'm a fan. He joins the Titans after serving the last couple of years with the Bucs where he was their director of player personnel. Before that he was a scout with some team called the New England Patriots. He helped draft a few big name players during his time with the Patriots and Bucs. SO EXCITED!
Past colleagues of Robinson's praise him as a great hire. There are a lot of great things being said about this guy...did I mention I'm excited? Sorry if I did...I just can't hide it.
It is now time to move onto finding our next head coach. There were rumors flying around yesterday that the Titans were only bringing in a GM who would agree to hire Mularkey. Honestly I think all of that is overblown, and frankly, not true. (It just doesn't make any logical sense to me, but I digress). Paul K thinks if Robinson took the job based on the understanding that Mularkey is the auto-hire then he is showing weakness right from the start (I agree).
Speaking of finding a head coach: the Titans interviewed Doug Marrone yesterday. Currently Marrone is an assistant coach with the Jaguars, and before that he served as head coach of the Bills. Amy, Kenny, Stevie, and our shiny new GM Jon were all at the interview.
John Glennon lists out 11 teams the Titans can learn from during this time of renewal. Some good. Some bad. I'm hoping we follow the path of the good.
It's almost draft season, which means it's almost Grams' favorite time of the year...MOCK DRAFTS! The hair released his first mock draft yesterday. Who did he have the Titans taking? He had them taking Joey Bosa out of Ohio State. Kiper does state that we have some options with that first pick. Maybe we can sell it for more picks, maybe we take Bosa, or maybe we take someone else. Who knows! Time will tell!
That's all for today. Happy reading!
