Jon Gruden Picks Marcus Mariota to Win Offensive Rookie of the Year

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Jim Wyatt of Titans Online was on a conference call with ESPN's Jon Gruden today.  You can go ahead and add Gruden to the Marcus Mariota fan club.  Just like Don Banks yesterday, Gruden is picking Mariota to win offensive rookie of the year.  Here is part of what Gruden had to say from Wyatt's article:

I have seen him, and I think his mental toughness has been on display, No.1,’’ Gruden said. “You saw him turn the ball over against Atlanta, a couple times I think, in the first 10-15 plays. And then you saw him string together some really good football. I saw him fall way behind on the road at Kansas City, then he hung in there and engineered a couple of really good drives. I like the way he is playing under center. Ken Whisenhunt has put him under the center a lot. It looks like he is in rhythm, he is doing some really good things and I think he has impressed a lot of people with the way he has thrown the football.
Gruden was extremely high on Mariota during the process leading up to the NFL Draft. To be fair, Gruden is high on most quarterbacks in the draft process, but he is obviously still interested in driving the Mariota hype train. I cannot wait for the season to get started on September 13th.
