Tennessee Titans scrimmage recap

What we learned about the team.

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

With the Tennessee Titans seeing a game situation for the first time this year, here are some things that stood out.

Cornerbacks are improved

Coty Sensabaugh was great today by all reports and almost intercepted Marcus Mariota twice. It has long been my opinion that Jason McCourty, Perrish Cox and Sensabaugh give this team their best option in pass defense. With those three guys on the field, the Titans can get more of a pass rush without needing to send extra people.

Blidi Wreh-Wilson and Curtis Riley were both injured to some degree today, but both had very solid days.

Mariota playing like a veteran

Marcus Mariota has been great so far in training camp, but today is a better example of how he is playing like a veteran. After a bumpy start where he was out of sync with his receivers, Mariota showed that he can bounce back in a strong way.

Mariota was especially deadly in the redzone where he was a major factor driving the team into the endzone.

P.S. The streak is still alive

Don't count out Josh Aubrey

The safety picked up to replace Cody Prewitt has been fairly outstanding in his short time (two days) with the Titans. Look at these tweets culminating in the last one which was posted today.

That looks like a guy who is going to get a chance on this roster, and on paper he reminds me of what fans hope that Daimion Stafford will become in the future.

David Cobb's big run

There really wasn't much information on how the running game preformed outside of one tweet, and that recognition came thanks to rookie running back David Cobb.

Pass rush and offensive line information M.I.A.

While I was expecting to hear a lot about the action between the offensive and defensive line in their first game situation in pads, there was little to no information out there on either aspect. I guess no news is good news for the offensive line, but the pass rush should have made some noise at least against the second team.
