The Buffalo Bills, according to multiple media reports, have released RB Fred Jackson (reaction from Buffalo Rumblings here). He won't be out of work for long. His agent has probably already heard from a few teams- the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns- seem like two of the most obvious that could be interested.
But as you know, this is a Titans blog, so my question to you is should the Titans be one of those teams that gives him a call? My first instinct is to say no. Jackson is 34 years old, and while he is probably an upgrade over anyone they currently have on the roster, the Titans don't need to stunt the growth of any of the young guys they have on the roster. It makes a lot more sense for him to go to a team that is a running back away from being really good. The Titans aren't that team.
Interest would also have to be a two-way street, and if I were a 34-year old running back I would not be jumping at the chance to join this Titans team.
Jackson ran the ball 141 times last season for 525 yards and 2 touchdowns.
