The biggest thing we learned tonight is that the Titans need Jason McCourty back in a bad way. Perrish Cox is a good player, he had another interception tonight, but the guys behind him- Coty Sensabaugh, Cody Riggs, et al.- are not good at all. If you are playing daily fantasy football in week 1, Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans are going to be guys you are going to want to have in your lineups if you like winning money.
Marcus Mariota had a slow start to the night. That was due in part to the fact that the offensive line was having trouble keeping people out of his face. He settled in as the night went on and finished the night 7-11 for 99 yards. Lambert broke down Mariota's performance in a lot of detail here.
Dexter McCluster was one of the stars of the night. It was easily the best he has looked in a Titans uniform. I guess playing in the 4th quarter of the 2nd preseason game will do that to you. McCluster actually looked explosive with the ball in his hands. It would be nice if that would continue into the regular season.
Antonio Andrews had another nice touchdown run. A Chiefs safety started to meet him at the line, but thought better of it and just dove at the ground. Andrews will be the short yardage back in the short term until David Cobb is healthy (and he might even hold Cobb off for the job).
Justin Hunter had a Justin Hunter game. You see flashes of ability, but nothing good really ever comes from the ball being thrown his direction. He had a chance to show up with Dorial Green-Beckham being sidelined with an ankele injury. He didn't take advantage of that opportunity.
Zach Mettenberger finished the night 3 for 11. That should cool some of the talk about a quarterback controversy or the Titans being able to trade him for a high pick. Mett has a lot of upside, but he still needs some time to develop before a team can really make him the guy.
Those are some of the highlights. What did I miss? Let me know in the comments.
