Report: Brian Hoyer named Texans starting quarterback

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Texans have had an enthralling quarterback battle in training camp between Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett- two bad choices.  Well according to Ian Rapoport, Bill O'Brien has decided to go with Hoyer.  I was hoping that it would be Mallett because people actually thought he was good coming out of college and I didn't.  There have been plenty of guys that I have missed on, but Mallett isn't one of them.

The Texans are going to be a mediocre team at best in 2015.  They have a lot of talent on defense, but they will be missing Arian Foster for a chunk of the season and their quarterback stinks.  The Texans could very well have a better record in 2015 than the Titans, but the Titans long-range outlook is so much better with Marcus Mariota.

QB purgatory is a tough place to be.  The Titans are finally out of it.  Have fun with that, Houston.
