David Cobb to get some time with Titans first team

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Bishop Sankey has been underwhelming in his time with the Titans.  Everyone here knows that because we have talked it to death.  That means the starting running back spot is up for grabs.  The two guys behind Sankey- Antonio Andrews and David Cobb- looked a lot better running the ball in the preseason opener.

That leads to this tweet from Jim Wyatt yesterday:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">.<a href="https://twitter.com/Titans">@Titans</a> RB <a href="https://twitter.com/DCobb27">@DCobb27</a> getting himself noticed -- and in position for first-team reps <a href="http://t.co/wtVZX0nA7E">http://t.co/wtVZX0nA7E</a> <a href="http://t.co/T3J2tg03BB">pic.twitter.com/T3J2tg03BB</a></p>&mdash; Jim Wyatt (@jwyattsports) <a href="https://twitter.com/jwyattsports/status/632985994938163200">August 16, 2015</a></blockquote>

We do have to put things into perspective here.  Cobb was running against the Falcons 2's, 3's, and 4's.  He should be able to shine against those guys...and he did.  That is what leads him to getting more reps with the first team.  If he gets to run against the Rams 1's on Saturday we will have a better idea of how Cobb actually stacks up against Sankey.

Eddie George was gushing about Cobb during the game on the WKRN broadcast.  Say what you want about Eddie as a broadcaster, the man knows what it takes to be a successful running back.
