Between The Posts: Tennessee Titans Friday Links

The Titans got their first look at the 2015 draft class in action.

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

The first day of Tennessee Titans rookie minicamp is in the books, giving Titans fans a first glimpse of Marcus Mariota in action. There was a ton of attention being paid to the event throughout the national media. Even if it was a toned down "soft" practice session, Mariota looked confident early on.

One of the articles floating around the web was in relation to HC Ken Whisenhunt's take on Mariota's ability to take snaps from under center. But as some have pointed out, including many of us here at MCM, 87% of the Titans passes came from the shotgun last season, good for fifth in the NFL. I agree with Ken, I don't think it's going to be a problem.

Some interesting notes from the Titans mini-camp.

Zach Mettenberger is showing both maturity and his competitive nature at present; helping teach new QB Marcus Mariota the Titans playbook, while also vowing that he's going to give it all to provide competition for the QB position. Mariota is the unquestioned starter in Nashville, but you need a solid backup guy with this kind of attitude.

The always excellent Amie Wells talks to the Titans newest big-bodied wideout, Dorial Green-Beckham, at the Titans rookie mini-camp.

In other news from around the league, Tom Brady and the NFLPA officially filed their appeal to the charges levied against the QB and the Patriots franchise. Stay tuned on this one, the story that will no doubt drag on...and on...and on.
