I have been saying for a long time now that the Tennessee Titans won't take Marcus Mariota with the 2nd pick in the draft. The reason for that was pretty simple: He isn't the style of quarterback that Ken Whisenhunt typically wants. Over the last few days, I have started to believe that Ruston Webster might just pull the trigger on Mariota at #2.
Tonight there is a report that the Titans will hold a private workout for Mariota after Oregon's pro day on Thursday:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>As broken on <a href="https://twitter.com/SiriusXMNFL">@SiriusXMNFL</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/WinTheDay">@WinTheDay</a> QB Marcus Mariota has private workout w/ <a href="https://twitter.com/TennesseeTitans">@TennesseeTitans</a> after Thursday's Pro Day workout</p>— Alex Marvez (@alexmarvez) <a href="https://twitter.com/alexmarvez/status/575103665792483328">March 10, 2015</a></blockquote>

Now, as I always say, you have to take everything you hear during this time of the year with a grain of salt. There is a good chance that the Titans are just doing this to scare the Philadelphia Eagles, or any other team that might really want Mariota.
The weird thing for me is that I have started to hope that the Titans do take Mariota. The top of this draft is not that good. Mariota is going to need some time, but he has the skills to become a really good player in this league. Ruston Webster said it best on the radio, until you don't have anything until you have the quarterback, or something along those lines. If there is a chance that Mariota is the quarterback, the Titans cannot afford to pass on him.
