NFL Free Agency 2015: Patriots Release Vince Wolfork

The anchor of the New England Patriots defensive line for the last 11 years will hit the open market.

Vince Wilfork announced on Twitter this morning that the New England Patriots will not be picking up his option:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Morning guys ... Please read below this will be my only statement <a href="http://t.co/gClv03hqet">pic.twitter.com/gClv03hqet</a></p>&mdash; Vince Wilfork (@wilfork75) <a href="https://twitter.com/wilfork75/status/573482158439940096">March 5, 2015</a></blockquote>

That means Wilfork will hit the open market.  There are going to be some Titans fans that think it would be a good idea for the team to pursue Wilfork.  He would probably be an upgrade over what the Titans currently have in the middle of their defensive line, but he is about at the end of the line in his playing career.  He will turn 34 during the season, and his play has been slipping.

There is also the fact that he is going to want to finish out his career on a team that is close to winning a Super Bowl.  He has been in New England for 11 years and knows nothing but a winning franchise.  I can't see him wanting to come to the Titans after that run.

Wilfork had a really interesting journey to get to the NFL.  Click here and read about it.  You will be glad you did.
