NFL Free Agency 2015: No Market for Michael Crabtree?

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree has been a guy that a lot of Titans' fans have been clamoring for on Facebook and Twitter.  It makes sense given the Titans need at receiver, but we have seen nothing linking the two parties.  Other than a reported visit with the Miami Dolphins, we haven't really seen Crabtree linked anyone.

Mike Florio wrote earlier this week that there is "little or no market" for Crabtree's services in the league.  That seems odd for a guy that is coming off a season where he had 68 catches, but it makes sense if you dig a little deeper.  Crabtree has an injury history dating back to his days at Texas Tech.  He has had multiple foot injuries and tore his Achilles tendon in 2013.

He bounced back pretty well from that in 2014.  68 catches and 698 yards are not huge numbers, but they are pretty solid considering the offense he played in and the erratic play of Colin Kaepernick last season.

One of the problems Crabtree is likely having right now is the difference between the contract he thinks he deserves and the contract teams are willing to give him.  He will probably have to settle for a 1-year deal to prove to teams he is healthy and ready to be productive.

The Titans need to add another veteran receiver and a receiver in the draft.  Crabtree would be a solid addition....for the right price.
